Serenely Spring!

I primarily shoot outdoor photos.  To get a quality photograph like this I am trying to consider the following:

Subject or Model

Background

Light

Mood

This portrait was taken right here in Roswell, NM in the evening light with a two year old model in a spring dress and pretty hairdo.  The background is some of the beautiful flowering trees on the NMMI campus, and I think the mood is serene.

Your own personal colors...

Did you know that most people have a color scheme that looks the best on them and around them?  It's all about your skin tone, hair and eye colors, and the way your natural coloring works together.
In general, your color scheme will usually align with one of the four seasons.  Some people have two seasonal color schemes that work well for them (usually opposites such as Summer and Winter), and most of us have at least one of the color schemes that looks TERRIBLE on us and around us.

Here is an example of a little boy (my son) who is definitely an AUTUMN.

Notice that the colors he is wearing and the natural autumn background just seem to work perfectly with his features.  That is how you know you have found your seasonal color scheme!

Knowledge of your best colors can go a long way toward choosing good clothing, backgrounds, and lighting for great quality portraits of you or your family.  In Roswell, NM, we have great opportunities to take photographs and portraits in all four seasons!

A Roswell, NM sunset!

I snapped this photograph one evening leaving the house on the way to church.  Consider it a portrait of our gorgeous skies in Roswell, NM!
